Overture Networks Boosts UTS4000 and UTX8500 Platforms with 1588v2 Differential Timing
Overture Continues to Deliver Innovation with the Addition of Integrated Differential Timing for Optical Ethernet and Mobile Backhaul
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Overture Networks, the industry’s trusted Carrier Ethernet solutions provider, today announced the addition of 1588v2 differential timing to both its UTS4000 Ethernet Edge Platform and UTX8500 Pseudowire Gateway. IEEE 1588v2 is becoming the preferred industry-standard protocol for precision timing for applications such as high-performance DS1 pseudowire over Ethernet. High performance DS1 pseudowire is especially critical for mobile backhaul applications where latency, jitter and wander requirements are particularly stringent.
“Both the UTS4000 and UTX8500 combine these advanced performance elements with the highest industry standards to allow our customers the most cost-effective and easy-to-implement Ethernet transport solution. As Carrier Ethernet deployments continue to grow, Overture products play an increasingly important role in the new network.”
“Service providers often require an Ethernet access solution that supports high performance DS1’s in addition to best in class Ethernet connectivity for converged mobile backhaul and for carrier-grade enterprise services,” said Dave Stehlin, President of Overture Networks. “Both the UTS4000 and UTX8500 combine these advanced performance elements with the highest industry standards to allow our customers the most cost-effective and easy-to-implement Ethernet transport solution. As Carrier Ethernet deployments continue to grow, Overture products play an increasingly important role in the new network. ”
The Overture UTS4000 product family enables converged Ethernet services and up to 24 pseudowire DS1s over native Ethernet transport. The UTS4000 platform is ideal for mobile backhaul or network backhaul requiring carrier-class Ethernet with fine-grain CoS and SONET-quality DS1 transport over Gigabit Ethernet or any other native Ethernet transport. The UTS4000 series, which is already MEF18 certified in adaptive mode, now offers the additional option of integrated 1588v2 differential mode timing.
The UTS 4000 can be paired with the Overture Networks UTX8500 PWE gateway to allow carriers to enable a 1588v2 solution without the cost and complexity of deploying separate 1588v2 timing servers. The UTX8500 PWE gateway is the industry's largest scale, most cost effective solution; supporting 1,000 protected DS1s in a completely redundant system. The UTX8500 leverages existing BITS or SONET line timing to deliver an integrated 1588v2 timing master server which supports up to 500 remotes.
