OCP-IP Announces Network-on-Chip Working Group Overview White Paper
BEAVERTON, Ore. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 8, 2011 — Open Core Protocol International Partnership (OCP-IP) announces the availability of the white paper titled “ OCP-IP Network-on-Chip Benchmarking Work Group Overview.†This paper presents a summary of the work and infrastructure developed and provided by the OCP-IP Network-on-Chip benchmarking work group, including tool releases, specifications, and other important white papers and technical articles.
Network-on-Chip (NoC) is a familiar, but emerging paradigm for interconnecting resources in a complex integrated circuit. Despite numerous published research efforts, common NoC benchmarks are not currently available making it difficult to compare NoCs meaningfully and to repeat experiments done by other researchers. To solve these problems, OCP-IP formed a work group with members from both academia and industry.
Work on the white paper was completed by the OCP-IP Network-on-Chip Benchmarking Working Group led by Tampere University of Technology, Royal Institute of Technology and Sonics Inc.
“A goal of this white paper is to highlight the many deliverables developed, published, and distributed by our NoC Benchmarking Working Group which includes the world’s leading universities in the field of Network-on-Chip,†said Ian Mackintosh, president and chairman of OCP-IP. “OCP-IP has brought together leading experts in this emerging field to develop schemes for evaluation of NoC performance that will ultimately help the SoC design industry and our members select and evaluate commercial products.â€
The Network-on-Chip Benchmarking Working Group has also issued an open call for benchmarks for distribution to researchers. NoC researchers may submit benchmarks from any application domain to be included. For more information on the call for benchmarks, please see http://www.ocpip.org/ocpspec_call_for_benchmarks.php.
