Engineering Management Redux!
INCOSE & SAE NW (Seattle, WA) Section – Joint Meeting
“Engineering Management Redux!
(Or Managing the Management of Complexity)”
Today’s engineers must work on projects of increasing complexity, shrinking time-to market windows and with globally distributed, interdisciplinary team members. Aggregation within almost all traditional market supply chains further compounds the already daunting technical challenges. A bridge is needed between the technical and business profession to deal with these issues, i.e., systems engineering management. This presentation will highlight just a few of the factors making SE management so important – from Wright’s Law and hardware commoditization to intellectual property and the IoT. The need for an evolution of the systems engineering management approach will be weighed against the obstacles preventing any such maturization.
